This CRL Metal Brake and Shear was designed by a glazier to be portable for use in the shop or on the jobsite. It has a 14 inch (355.6 millimeter) deep throat and is able to handle up to .070 inch (1.85 millimeter) thick metal. The brake edge of the machine is capped with stainless steel to allow a utility knife to be run down it to score the metal when using the machine as a shear. A silicone-lined bending bar prevents damage to the finish. The machine's clamping action also allows it to make hemmed edges. Short pieces can be bent by one person; long pieces require two people. The machine is manually operated and has no power assist features. Metal must be scribed before bending. This is easily done with a utility knife after the metal has been positioned in the bender.
