This CRL B5S Series Standard Square Aluminum Base Shoe is used as the base channel for glass railing systems. It can be clad in five choices of architectural finishes. The most critical component in a railing system is the proper attachment of the Aluminum Base Shoe to the substrate. CRL has engineered and tested a variety of attachment methods, and has developed an acceptable combination of drilling patterns and fasteners. The five tested methods of attachment can be found on pages R10 to R11, and associated fasteners are shown on pages R12 to R13. A printed brochure with Instructions, Installation Hints, Cleaning, and Refinishing techniques is available.
All heavy aluminum base shoes have a stock length tolerance of plus or minus 3/4 inch (19 millimeter)
CAPACITY:
1/2 inch (12 millimeter) Thick Glass when using GlassWedge® Dry Glaze System;
1/2 or 5/8 inch (12 or 16 millimeter) Thick Glass when using Wet Glaze System

NOTE: 20 feet (6.10 meter) Extrusion Only (without holes) cannot be used for the GlassWedge® Dry Glaze System unless the Base Shoe is fabricated to the above tested and approved hole and counter bore pattern. The GlassWedge® Dry Glaze System requires that the attachment holes be counter bored so that no part of the fastener protrudes above the base of the channel opening.
SHIPPING NOTE: Due to the difficulty in packaging and handling 20 feet (6.10 meters) stock lengths, it is suggested that you Will Call these at any of our distribution centers. If requiring shipment, all packaging and handling concerns must be agreed to by CRL and the customer prior to shipping. All shipping arrangements will be documented on your quotation for your signed approval.
