INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOT MATRIX WINDOW FILM. 1.0 THE WORK ENVIRONMENT. 1.1 It is best to install Dot Matrix Film out of direct sunlight and when the temperature is between 65 and 80 degrees F. 1.2 Silicones and similar aerosols affect the static cling properties of these films. It is imperative that the work environment be absolutely free from these contaminants as well as air-born particles of dust that may adhere to the glass surfaces or to the static side of the film. 2.0 CLEANING THE SURFACE. 2.1 It is recommended that a cleaning solution be made of 2 tablespoons of a baby shampoo such as NO TEARS per one gallon of warm water. Dry surfaces with a dust free and silicone free cloth. 2.2 Clean the window thoroughly and allow it to dry completely. Make sure to clean the corners. 2.3 Stubborn deposits such as tobacco smoke residue, previous wax types of cleaners, cleaners containing silicones, and tape adhesives may be removed with a solvent such as rubbing alcohol, or greaseless fingernail polish remover. It may be necessary to scrape the window using a straight-edged razor blade. Keep in mind that surface coated LOW E glass, plastics and window film already applied to the glass may be easily scratched or damaged by cleaning. They do not have to be removed to apply Dot Matrix Film but special care should be taken during cleaning. 3.0 ROUGH SIZING THE FILM. 3.1 Cut the Dot Matrix Film 1 to 1 1/2 Inches larger than the window to be covered. It is helpful if the top and one side are square in relation to each other. 4.0 APPLICATION. 4.1 Apply the film to the window with the shiny side to the glass beginning at the top left or right corner. Then work to the center and down smoothing the film with the palm of your hand as you go. 4.2 A soft straightedge with the consistency of the edge of a credit card or a ruler covered with a soft lint free cloth may be used to further smooth the film. 4.3 If bubbles of air or specks of dirt we trapped between the glass and the film, simply lift a corner and peel back the film to expose the area, release the air pocket or remove the dirt and apply as before. 4.4 It is not necessary to use water during installation, but if desired, the surface may be sprayed with the solution used to clean the surface to facilitate installation. 4.5 After the film is securely in place it may be desirable to go over the film to remove any inconsistencies in appearance on the opposite side of the window. 4.6 In case the film does not adhere along the frame edge or in the corners due to silicone window sealants, a small amount of clear fingernail polish may be used as an adhesive. This procedure assures a quick and permanent bond around the perimeter of the installation, especially for external applications. 5.0 TRIM THE FILM. 5.1 Once the film is securely in place you may trim the overlapping edges using a razor blade or a utility knife. Stubborn corners may be held in place with clear fingernail polish as noted in 4.
